Obstetrics is the branch of medicine concerned with pregnancy and childbirth. This includes care for both mother and fetus throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and the immediate postpartum period.
Gynecology is the branch of medicine dealing with problems and issues involving the female reproductive tract. Most services include prevention and treatment of these problems. Services inlude: adolescent gynecology, annual pap and pelvic examinations, breast cancer screening, contraception and family planning, diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases, infertility treatment, treatment of abnormal bleeding, premenstrual syndrome and uterine fibroids.
Urogynecology is dedicated to the treatment of women with pelvic floor disorders. These include urinary incontinence, fecal incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse. Pelvic organ prolapse can be defined as herniation (bulging or falling) of the uterus, vagina, bladder and/or rectum.
Menopause is the permanent shutting down of the female reproductive system, which occurs a considerable length of time before the end of the lifespan. We promote complementary and alternative medicine, behavioral interventions and medication when necessary.
Surgery procedures at Omni Ob/Gyn include minimally invasive techniques when necessary. All of our staff have extensive training in laporoscopy, hysteroscopy, and pelvic organ prolapse.
